Dining Watermarks

PARAMETRIC DESIGN TABLE

A dining table may be seen as a typical inanimate furnishing item whose particular form and style are defined by material choices, shapes and textures. The dining room may often be considered the symbolic center of the nuclear family and our object follows the symbolism and allegory of a permanently scarred table as that in Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon.

A watermark makes a strong statement of ownership, identity and belonging. Beyond issues of space and style, a dining table watermark may expose stories of generations, scenes of love, loss and happiness as they appear in human fragments of memories. The original rectangular black dining table is liquefied indicating times of turmoil and change, while covered by plastic semitransparent pyramids hinting scars.

The DESIGN was exhibited in RE-FRESH EXHIBITION  2013, IN ATHENS GR
